October 13, 1961, the Volente Volunteer Fire Department was chartered by Owen Davis, E. R. (Swede) Lilja, Ray Martin, Tony Hightower, and Rolph Wilson. The men of the Volente Fire Department requested that a Ladies Auxiliary be formed. It was organized May 20, 1974 by Mrs. Retta Riefkohl and with the help of about fifty other ladies.

On Dec 20 1991 10:08AM 677.01 feet ASL

On Dec 23 1991 10:08AM 707.68 feet ASL - (that's a 30.67 foot rise in 72 hours)

Then Dec 25 1991 11:09PM 710.44 feet ASL - (all time record high)

This put parts of 2769 & Bullick Hollow under water for up to a month.
